Are you passionate about wildlife, nature, or making a difference in your community? Do you have skills to share, or are you keen to learn something new? The Bats and Trees Society of Cairns needs you!
Want to Make a Difference? Volunteer with the Bats and Trees Society of Cairns! 🦇🌳
Whether you’re a seasoned wildlife warrior or someone who just loves animals and wants to help, there’s a place for everyone in our team. And it’s not just about bat rescues – though we do plenty of those! We’re looking for volunteers from all walks of life, with all kinds of skills, to help protect and promote our flying friends and their leafy homes.
🦇 What We Do
The Bats and Trees Society of Cairns is a local grassroots group dedicated to:
- Rescuing and caring for injured or orphaned bats
- Advocating for tree conservation and urban habitat protection
- Educating the public about the importance of bats and trees
- Running stalls, events, and community outreach
- Working with councils, schools, and other organisations
🙌 Ways You Can Help
You don’t have to handle bats to be part of our team—we’ve got something for everyone:
🛠 Bat Rescuers & Carers
Trained volunteers help with rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing bats. If you’re interested, we’ll provide support, guidance, training, and can help with vaccination costs.
📲 Social Media & Communications
Love making reels, writing posts, or managing pages? Help us spread the word online, run campaigns, and grow our community.
🧺 Market Stall Volunteers
Help us run our market or event stalls—talk to the public, sell merch, and share our message.
📋 Admin & Behind-the-Scenes
Every organisation needs a backbone! We’d love help with emails, rosters, data entry, grant writing, and coordinating volunteers.
🎨 Creative & Design
Can you design a flyer, make a video, draw a bat, or take beautiful photos? Let’s get creative with awareness and education!
👂 Outreach & Education
Join us at schools, community talks, or festivals to inspire others with the magic of bats and the power of trees.
🌟 No Experience? No Worries!
Whether you’re a student, retiree, full-time worker, parent, or visitor to the region, we welcome you. If you’ve got time, passion, or a skill to offer, we’ll find a way for you to get involved.
We’re a supportive team of bat-loving locals – and we always have snacks.
